Fun way to end the summer

Here are some pictures of the other fun events that went along with our end of the year festival.

In this one they buried about $150 worth of coins in this hay pile and let the kids have at it.

This has been an annual event for as long as any one can remember in Milton. Kids slide down this hill on cardboard boxes. This good clean (and free) fun just is timeless isn't it? Our girls have been saving the perfect box for the event all year. Let me tell you they were rock stars with their friends for having the biggest boxes there!

One of the best things about this event in our town is that EVERYTHING including the snow cones which I think the girls each had four of that day are completely free. Love this! Here is Erin participating in the balloon toss game. So much fun!

We had so much fun this day. My only question is . . .what happened to summer? It went way too fast!

Memories from the Big Apple

This may be my favorite picture from my recent trip to New York City with my sister. Oh my goodness we had so much fun going to Blogher!!

The night this picture was taken we were standing in line outside a swanky New York building waiting to get into this very fancy party. Which is just a perfect example of how our whole trip went. It was a very surreal how we were treated like celebrities at every event we attended. We got given so many goodies we each actually mailed a box home to ourselves full of our swag.

We met celebrities such as Bruce Jenner and one of my faves the Sun from the Hillshire Farms commercials. Both guys were super nice! That poor sun wore that costume for at least eight hours!

While we were in NYC we got to do tons of shopping and take in the sites like Time Square and Central Park. What a lovely oasis that is in that huge city! One of my very favorite things we did was take in a Broadway show seeing Mary Poppins. Wow that was a great show if it comes through Seattle I will definitely be taking the girls (and Jordan too if he wants to go!)

Now back to my regularly scheduled life. We are in the works of wrapping up our summer. The weather is already cooling down here quite a bit and we are shopping for back to school supplies. The girls Open House for their school is August 30th and then we will all be busy as I am the Vice President of PTA this year I have lots to do as well.

Sending prayers that all the kids have a fabulous school year this year (and the parents too)!

Who doesn't love a parade?

This past weekend we had another glorious day here in Washington (have I ever mentioned how much I love the weather here?) so we attended our town's annual festival to celebrate the end of summer. It always starts with a parade. Here is the Daffodil Queen and her court.

Erin loved getting to see Lizzy.

The girls favorite part is catching all the candy they throw to the onlookers. Some traditions just never get old do they?

I swear I don't travel well

I seriously had sooo much fun in NYC with my sister on our recent trip to BlogHer. If you missed the run down I included tons of pictures on our blog Steals and Deals. But I swear my body does not like the heat or who knows for whatever reason this is what I often look like after I travel. Look at the rash on my feet!

I went to the doctor and he said who that is interesting. Had me go do some blood work and sent me a letter that said "It all looks normal." I don't even know why I bother going to the doctor...does this look normal to you? On the up side it seems to be going away now but I am so not looking forward to the next time this rash decides to appear again!

I should add the doctor says he is doing some research because I wore the sandals I wore most of my visit to the appointment and he said he noticed the rash was only in the spots where the sun would hit my feet he thinks it may be some kind of a reaction to the sun. See I knew I was not a summer girl! We did pick the right state to live in!
