Great sense of humor!

I think one of the funniest things about your children growing up is learning about their likes, dislikes, and just a personality developing.

I think Christian has rubbed off on him with his nerdy sense of humor and I have to laugh at the Tshirts Christian brings home for Jordan on his TDYs. You may notice the one he is wearing in the football picture says (Witness Protection Program - You don't know me) some of my other favorites he has are

He also has a slew of shirts from the movie The Monty Python and Mad comics that he loves to read. I'm so grateful these are the kinds of shirts he picks out oppose to some of those that I see with the sayings on them at the stores that make me blush!

Pioneer Park

Took the girls to downtown Puyallup (pronounced Pew-wall-up) today to walk around and enjoy the sites. Our first stop was this adorable little shop that I should have took some pictures in but was obviously distracted b/c food was involved called Induldge. They served gourmet cupcakes in the most interesting flavors. They even had rootbeer icing! My girls were so adventurous and got ..... vanilla! We then walked around enjoying the beautiful weather and stopped into several of the little shops along the way. This is definitely what I would call the artsy fartsy side of town and there were these adorable statues at almost every street corner. We ended at this lovely park where the girls drew this with their sidewalk chalk

I knew I wanted to put the flag on the opposite wall with a quote above it but couldn't think of a quote for the longest time. I was really going for something aimed at Red Cross since I felt like that was appropriate with us being a military family and Christian working in the medical field. I asked one of my friends she just laughed and said I don't know how about Don't bleed on the Floor? I obviously nixed that oh so helpful suggestion and went with the one pictured instead!

Salute

I finished decorating my guest bathroom downstairs. I obviously went with a vintage Americana theme. This is the wall that is opposite the toilet. I did this the last time Christian went out of town. I forgot to tell him about it and when he came upstairs after his flight to unpack I asked if he was glad to be home. He said yeah but the only thing is every time I go to the toilet now I gotta salute!

In his element

With Christian still out of town Jordan has become my adult conversation. I am really enjoying his company. Well I decided tonight I wanted my buddy to join me in my new favorite thing Yoga. Let me tell you I really enjoyed watching my football player son who is now thanks to lots of weight lifting and working out getting pretty built try to hold some of the poses and what not required in Yoga. He was huffing and puffing trying to hold still but he made it through the class. He told me afterwards that wasn't very hard (of course) I'm glad he thought so b/c I thought she worked us really hard tonight my arms are WEAK!

I have to add though that we got to the gym a bit early so we had some time to burn before Yoga class started. He wanted to show me the squats he has been working on with the free weights. Let me tell you just walking into the free weight area is completely out of my comfort zone with all those big muscle builder guys but......I did for Jordan! Anyway I was REALLY impressed with his weight lifting skills and how he really is trying to use the right form and all! I really wished I would have brought my camera in there but I think I was already looking like I didn't belong enough walking into that free weight area without a camera. he he!

**also yes this pose pictured above is actually one that we do in my Yoga class and its harder than it looks. Try it with your eyes closed and hold it without falling over for 30 seconds.

Manly football practice

I looked out the window today and this is what I saw. I asked Jordan what he was doing he said its football practice. I am working on my foot work. This so cracked me up! He got the girl's sidewalk chalk out and looked like he was doing hopscotch. Let me tell you I gave it a try and its harder than it looks!

My music selection for today is a song that Christian loves and says he is totally gonna give this a try when the girls start dating!

Scrapping moment I need to share

I took the girls to the zoo on Sunday. (Jordan opted out of it) We only stayed for a little bit but I think they had a good time. We spent the time in the Kid's Zone. They both really enjoyed this chair that you could spin around in. Of course looking at the animals too. But the part that cracked me up was when they both saw the snail they had to crawl in and say look I'm Gary (you know from spongebob). I thought it was even funnier when some other kid came running over who hadn't heard their conversation and tell his mom the same thing. I guess you can tell Spongebob is popular with the kids!

We made it!

So today I let Jordan practice driving for the first time. He got his permit about a week ago and has been hesitant to try to drive. Today when I picked him up from driver's education class I was sitting in the passenger seat and said you ready to drive us home. He gave a sheepish grin, shrugged his shoulders and said okay. Well....let me just say I have a whole new respect for my parents now. My stomach is in knots now! You forget the little things that you have to learn like how to ease on the brakes (I may have some form of whip lash as I type this) and a small correction of the wheel and not jerking it. The girls and I both let out quite a few squeals on the way home! I really think there may be a permenant form of my clenched fist on our passenger door handle as well ;). Oh well this is how we all started...right?

Remember this?

I was trying to get the girls out of the bath tub earlier and after asking for I don't know the 15th gabillionth time for them to get out and get dressed. When I went in to see what was taking so long I noticed they were both staring down at the drain. I asked them if they lost something they said no but this is our favorite part seeing the pretty whirlpool when the water goes down the drain. They said do you wanna come look too? It's so pretty! This made me smile and remember the fascination I had of the same thing when I was little. Awww to slow down and enjoy the small things in life.

The first song Fallen has special meaning to me b/c if you listen to the words of it it fully describes me 'falling' for my husband and the situation I was in at the time. I heard it one day and thought wow that is so what is happening to me right now! So every time I hear it I get all sentimental and mushy ;)

School's out!!! Sort of anyway. . .

So today school is officially out so you would think yeah time to put books away right? Well not my kids. Regan decided that now that school is out its the perfect time to teach Erin to read. So she got right to work teaching her. For some reason Regan decided that when she is teaching everyone must wear an apron, hence the aprons. Don't ask me? Just grateful that Aunt Shelly sent the apron for Regan b/c the little red one that Grandma Meyer sent her some years ago has been outgrown and passed down to little sister.

Jordan is frantically trying to memorize the play book for football scrimmage this evening. If you play against Fife high do NOT look at the screen!

Then Regan found a catepillar outside and proceeded to explain to Erin the lesson she learned this year on the changing into a butterfly. Oh yeah Grandma Meyer wanted to know and Regan said the butterfly they released this year was the Painted Lady.

I really wanted to go see this concert with Mandy in Kansas City but because of Christian's work schedule it is just not going to work. I did notice though that they are going to be here just a couple weeks later so here's the info:

The New Kids on the Block or NKOTB for those of you that know the slang ;) will be in concert here in Tacoma at the Tacoma Dome (which is literally minutes from my house) on Saturday November 22. So who wants to go?

I've got an air mattress and a futon. Can anyone say girl's night?
