Lunch box of embarrassment

I pack both the girls lunches every day for school. Well every once in a while one of them forgets (or in Regan's case just looses, how do you loose a lunchbox?) their lunch box at school. Thankfully due to our website Steals and Deals I have an extra on hand that was sent to me to review. It has a picture of Bugs Bunny on the front and says Eating Right.
Regan was the first to misplace her lunch box at school so I said fine I will pack your lunch in this one today and you can bring me home the other one when you check the Lost and Found at school. She said it was just too embarrassing with Bugs Bunny on the front so she taped a big piece of paper over the front of it. I saw it and said Whatever makes you feel better. If you don't want to have to continue to bring Bugs Bunny to school bring me home your other lunch box. This seemed to be the motivation she needed because her original lunch box found its way home that afternoon.
A couple days later Erin forgot her lunch box at school. So I pulled out Bugs bunny for her lunch. The next morning I saw her taping a piece of paper over Bugs. I said Erin what are you doing? She said MOM it's just too embarrassing. Okay I understood a 4th grader being embarrassed by Bugs Bunny but a 1st grader? She cracks me up she so wants to be just like her big sister.
So the Bugs Bunny lunch box has become the lunch box of shame to bring to school in our house ;) It's fine with me because it seems to be great motivation for them to track down their lunch box at school to bring home!

Take joy in the little things in life
We live in a little town that I am becoming quite fond of. I went out today to our library to pick up a book I had on reserve and had to stop and watch the Senior center next door that was having their dance day. It so made me smile to see these sweet elderly people dancing the waltz to What a Wonderful World! So what happened today that made you smile?

Granny's boy
Okay when I asked to get this picture I had a seriously grumpy camper on my hands. I had to stretch the truth a little and tell him Granny wanted to see what it looked like. He is such a Granny's boy! Any whoo as you can see it's not too bad but a bit swollen still.

Battle Wounds
Jordan called me from practice yesterday and said Mom can you send dad to come pick me up. I got hurt and I want him to look at it. This was the phone call I had been dreading since the day he said he wanted to try out for football. I was a nervous wreck until they pulled up and then Christian came in and said he needs to go to the ER. I ran out and he looked all right except he had a massive bandage across his chin. I said "What happened?" Well at practice he had another player come up under his helmet and the other player's helmet collided with Jordan's chin. His chin split right open.
So I spent last night in the ER with Jordan waiting hours and then he got his four stitches in his chin. Then today we had to make a decision as a group mom, dad, Jordan, and coaches whether he should play in the game this Friday night. That would mean he would stand a good chance of splitting that chin right back open, infection, and scarring. Then run right into another week of . . .should he play this week? So we decided it was in his best interest to wait it out one week. So there you go Jordan's first battle wound. Not so bad really girls like scars right ;)
If you want me to take a picture of his stitched up chin let me know...

Football season has officially begun
Although it feels like it started a long time ago as it seems like Jordan practically lives on the football field right now we got to watch his first game this Saturday night. It was a beautiful evening about 60 degrees and just the perfect weather to be sitting outside enjoying a high school football game. Jordan didn't get to play as much as we had hoped he would but did see some field time. His team lost by 6 points. Here is to hoping we have a win this Friday night! And return of the nice weather!

First day of school
So here they are all ready to go for their first day of school. Our oldest for his last first day of school, his Senior year. And our youngest on her first day of 1st grade! Regan starts 4th grade this year. She had a completely different outfit picked out for her first day but discovered she was going to have gym her first day so she will be wearing that snazzy outfit tomorrow apparently. Hope everyone has a great first day!

Open House
Next was Regan's school next door. Regan's teacher is from Hawaii and her whole classroom looks like a tropical vacation. This teacher does not like to use desks but tables instead and likes to encourage a team effort out of her class. She seems very nice and got high recommmendations from all parents who have had her in the past.
So I am feeling good about this year and praying that all three of my kids have a great school year this year. Once again God is good to us and it seems my prayers of placing my kids with the right teacher seemed to be answered. So here is to a good year for not only my three Merry Meyers but all of our kids and the teachers as well!
