The learning involved in Camp Seymour

Camp Seymour is actually a learning camp. There is a whole curriculum set up and we had between two and four classes they attended each day.

Here is a picture of the sweet girls in my cabin. They had A LOT of silly girly giggly energy but I gotta say this was one really great group. They all got along so well and I secretly think I had the best cabin at camp!

We learned about recycling and how much work it is to make our water drinkable.

Had some fun swinging around.

learned all about local sea life by dissecting a squid. And yep Regan totally did it, honestly the boys in the class were more squeamish than the girls!

Can you think of a better way to have science lessons than this?

Boating Class

The past three days I went to Regan's Camp Seymour for her 5th grade class. I was a chaperon/Cabin Leader. I was a bit apprehensive to say the least at starting this trip but I gotta admit I actually had fun.

I am not much of a camper but these cabins were pretty nice. They had electricity, heat, actual toilets and showers WITH hot water!

Here is Regan above in her boating class. Christian couldn't believe this picture when he saw it. He said is that our daughter out in a boat without an adult? I said it sure is and I am telling you she did it a great job! She had a lot of fun!

The things daddy will do

I am not a fan of these stupid sticky toys

Check out what a daddy is willing to do to make her daughter happy when the sticky lizard winds up all the way on this tall wall

Musicals

Regan at her 5th grade musical.

Regan had a part and did a great job with her lines. The musical was all around their Social Studies lessons of how the United States was formed.

The 2nd graders had their own musical a few weeks ago as well.

Spring Break fun

Over Spring Break Christian took the week off work and it was fun to get to spend some time with the girls without the rush of the school week thrown in. Here are some shots of us at a place called Family Fun Center. Erin loved of course this racing game.

Regan said she really REALLY wanted to win a puppy she saw in this game. She said she always wanted to try out and of course win one of these claw games but she never had the money to. She was super happy that the tokens we gave the kids when we walked in were accepted in the claw game as well.
My rule is here are your tokens you spend them how you want but when they are gone they are GONE.
And would you looky there only after about five tries did she win her puppy!
The girls were so excited to try out bumper cars as well for the first time!

Meet Emerson Hope

This Saturday we drove down to Portland to meet my cousin April's new baby girl Emerson Hope. As you can see both of them are gorgeous! Little Emerson or Emmy as April says they will be calling her was only 6 lbs. She was a teeny tiny perfect little pink peanut!

I was so happy that although this pregnancy was a long one for April (months of bed rest) her delivery was much easier and no need to whip this baby into the NICU. She is perfectly healthy! What a blessing!

I was super happy to be able to extend our welcome wishes from all of the Whitson side to April. Since she has moved to Oregon she lives very far away from her side of the family who lives in Kansas and Missouri.

So big CONGRATS to April, Matt, and Hunter. Also a big WELCOME to Emmy! Don't worry I gave Emerson, April and even Matt hugs from all of the midwest family ;)
