Regan came to me today and said I think I know what I want to get daddy for Christmas. I looked at her and said oh yeah whatcha got in mind? She said I think we should get him a bowling ball. I looked at her and said WHAT? Why in the world would we get him a bowling ball? Regan says "Well when we give him his gift no matter what shape it is he always guesses that it's a bowling ball. I am starting to think that is what he really wants!"
Should we be silly and just get it?

SWOOOON!

I know I know I may be the last person I know to get around to watching this movie. But can I just tell you I LOVED it?!! That Edward {sigh} what a heartbreaker! I finally talked my husband into taking me to see this movie. No Jordan wouldn't go he said the love story thing was just not up his alley so poor Christian had to bring me ;). He told me after the movie I think you were smiling almost the whole movie. You must have really liked it huh? Well let me just tell you there is something so wonderful about really enjoying a book and getting to see it played out on the screen....when they do it justice. Look at this face would you....they did Edward justice!!
SWOOOON!!

The toothfairy will be visiting our house tonight!
Boy we had some excitement today as Erin lost her first tooth today! (Is it silly that this some how made me sad?) I am running out of firsts in my house! My baby just lost her first baby tooth. sigh Okay okay enough of the mom pitty party.
Erin has been talking about her teeth all this week and I was pretty sure this was going to happen any day now. As you can see from one of the pics her bottom two teeth have already started to come in behind the baby teeth so poor thing is not going to have any front or bottom teeth for a while at this rate!
We all tried a crack at yanking that tooth out but daddy was the hero that actually ended up getting it for her.
Her first words were WHAT DO YOU THINK THE TOOTH FAIRY WILL BRING ME? hmmmm I'm not sure

Catch the leaf!
The girls and i went for a walk on the trail close to our house. They invented a new game called "catch the leaf". The leaves were falling from the trees every where and they tried to catch them before they hit the ground. Great exercise for them!

Christmas Celebration Day 8
Do you shop on Black Friday? What time do you start? Do you finish all your shopping on that day? What’s the best deal you have found? What’s your shopping strategy?

Let me answer that by saying NO WAY will you be seeing me fighting the crowds on black Friday!! First of all I am not a morning person second of all I am way more of a online shopper. I honestly am almost completely done with my Christmas shopping right now so there is no need to be running out to fight that nonsense. Plus honestly did you know you can find some black friday sales online? Cool huh?
How about you do you fight the crowds?

Day 5 of Christmas celebration
What do you do to give back during the season?
I love to give to Toys for Tots what a great organization that the Military started! But another of my favorite is to go into Kmart (or any store that has it up) and let me kids each pick a card off the tree that lists an item that kids in our area that are in need something they would like for Christmas. It is fun letting them find what they deem would be the perfect gift and the knowledge of knowing that without this gesture these kids would probably not have a Christmas.
When we were stationed in Alaska Jordan's youth group helped a community wide organization to do food baskets for the holidays. It was a great learning experience for him. He said it made him feel great to give and the families were all so appreciative.
Speaking of giving want to help our family give BIG this year? This website is holding a contest whoever gets the most votes wins a Wii. I would love to win this to give to our neighbors who have 9 children and are constantly coming to our house to play our Wii. They daddy is out of work right now due to health issues from a car accident. I am giddy thinking about how excited they would be to find this sitting on their porch! I would love to sneak there in the evening with this package ring the doorbell and run!
Vote for me here please! You need to vote for Abby ;)
If you hit sort by name my name jumps up to the top (its in alphabetical order)
So what is your family going to do to give back this season?

Is she not the cutest thing? This is my niece Grace.
I sent her that pacifier I found and just couldn't resist. I knew her mommy would have the perfect outfit for her baby. was I right or what? I have to say my favorite shot though is of her getting her costume on. Can you stand how adorable that face she is making is?

Irrational fears
We all have fears some like Erin's fear of spiders I totally get. Now her fear of flies not so much. Regan has a fear I mean completely detests any kind of face paint. I am going to guess this has something to do with her distaste of clowns. You know there are not many of us that are crazy about those freaky things. Anyway every time we go some where that is doing face paint for kids I have to go through the explaining to the people why they need to stop pushing it on her she is NOT interested. Her sister on the other hand as you can see LOVES it! Here she is showing me her art work on her face (a fish she says)
So what are your irrational fears? Mine? The Incredible Hulk....don't ask SHUDDER!!

My best Christmas present
For me I have very warm fuzzy memories of the year Santa Claus left a Cabbage Patch Kid under our tree. It was in the 80's when the craze for the dolls was HUGE! Do you guys remember the news footage of the moms trampling each other trying to get their child one? That was the year that the only thing I really really REALLY wanted was a Cabbage Patch Kid (my poor parents!) Well when I awoke Christmas morning and found that doll under the tree I think I actually cried I was so excited! Shhhh I still have mine in storage. ;)
(No that is not a picture of me just one I found online, but that is what my Guy Brett looks like!)

Day 2 of Mom dot Christmas celebration
In the Meyer house we have a tradition of getting all dressed up and going to Christmas eve service every year. There is something so magical and wonderful about the message and excitement in the air of the season! We then go home (never quick enough for the kids) and have holiday music playing with lots of snackys and always a treat glass bottles of Coca-Cola. Then of course everyone's favorite part unwrapping the gifts.
Share some of your favorite holiday traditions. I would love to hear yours!

Day 1 of Mom Dot Christmas party celebration

Hello this is my wonderful family I am blessed to be a part of .I am taking part of the Christmas celebration on Mom Dot blog. On day one we are asked to share pictures of our family from last year's holiday. Here we are. The one of me helping the girl's into their new nightgowns is literally the only pic taken of me that day as I am generally the photographer. I shudder looking at it as that was almost 30 lbs heavier! Anyhooo this is my gorgeous family (if I do say so myself) I have three great kids ages 16 (I know I'm still trying to wrap my brain around that one), 9, and 5. We live outside of Seattle and yes get lots of rain but we actually love it! You will never see such beautiful green as in this part of the country! Thanks for stopping by.

Truth be known
I got a call from Erin's school today from the school nurse. (yes I may be on a first name basis with yet another school nurse) anyway apparently a little boy poked her in the eye with a pencil. My first thought was OH my is she okay should I come up there? They said no she is fine there is no damage it just watered. We put some ice on it and let her lay down for a little bit now she is back in class just fine. Well as the day goes on I am thinking man what little brat poked my baby? The mamma bear instinct is a strong one you know?! Erin walks in the door from school and I instantly am assessing her and she looks fine. So I ask her about it and she says I didn't do anything that boy just poked me for no good reason. translation in 5 year old language: I was completely the reason behind why this happened. I then replay in my mind things that have happened when I have helped in her class and remember her and some of the boys sword fighting with their pencils. I ask her if this is what happened. She said HE made me do it! SHYA right. So we then had a discussion about the reasons why mommy and the teacher both have said it is not a good idea to have sword fights with pencils. We'll see if it sticks or if it will need to be reoccuring eye injuries for her to learn her lesson.

Madagascar 2

Everyone had a day off yesterday in honor of Veteran's day even the kids! So we took the girls (Jordan said he was too cool for cartoons any more) to see Madagascar 2. Apparently we were not the only parents who thought this was a great idea for an afternoon matinea. The place was packed! Well let me tell you if you are looking for a kids movie that you too will enjoy you gotta check this one out. It's a knee slapper! There were several times that even Christian and I were cracking up. Nothing makes a parent happier than hearing their children belly laugh does it? Well there were many MANY belly laughing moments from both Regan and Erin!

Regan and the bell choir
Regan has joined the bell choir this year. This is her first year and she is doing really well! She is the only one in the group that has not performed before so this is the reason she has a helper with her. They let us know that she is coming along really well and will probably not need a helper the next time they perform. She is really enjoying it and it's so fun to see her up there enjoying the music she so dearly loves!

Follow up
I got a call from Karen's husband Chris yesterday letting me know that Karen is a couple lbs lighter ;). What a nut he is! Her surgery went really well and they didn't seem to find any cancer in the lymph nodes. So the surgery went as well as could be expected. She is on the mend now but I am sure would love to get your well wishes on her blog at www.thefivelittlelambs.blogspot.com. Thank you so much for all of you that prayed for my friend. It never ceases to amaze me what the power of prayer is able to do!

Erin's best friend
After school had been in session for a week or two I asked Erin if she could tell me the names of the kids in her class. She said well there's Jake and......I don't remember the rest. Needless to say her new best friend is Jake. Thankfully when I have gone in to help Jake seems to feel the same towards her. The two are pretty much inseperable. So meet Erin's best friend Jake isn't he a cutie?

To my Breast Friend
Since all my thoughts are with my "breast" friend Karen today as she goes in tomorrow to have surgery. I thought I would put up a post with her pretty picture and ask all my blogging friends and family to pray for her today as she goes in to get a masectomy done and get that nasty cancer out! I know she will do great and am so proud of how well she is handling this! I can't believe that she is the one that comforts me and her other friends and family through this as we all deal with how scary it is to have the scary C word touch one of us so young. So needless to say tomorrow I will sit anxiously by the phone awaiting word the surgery was a smashing success and my friend is back on the mend and ready for a 2 hour phone conversation about well everything and nothing.
I love you lots Karen and know I am thinking and praying for you today!

Mommy date
High School Musical 3Regan and I went to go see the final High school Musical movie the other day just the two of us. She has been a fan of these movies from the get go! She is so much like her mommy in that she is a sucker for any movie that they break into song. Who doesn't love a musical? (if you answer me here well....your just nuts!) Anyhooo we both thoroughly enjoyed the movie. One of things I personally love about these movies is that Disney has set it up that these kids are not growing up too fast and are still well high school kids. All be it unrealistic over the top school plays but Hello it is a movie right? That being said I wanted to share some of the funny moments with Regan there at the theater.
The first is when they got to a very predicable moment of quiet and staring and you just know a song is going to break out any second...I leaned down and said Regan I think their gonna start singing now (teasing her) She leans over and whispers Oh I hope so mommy! That girl cracks me up!
The other is when they had one of the few (thankfully) kissing scenes my sweet innocent girl turned and looked at me and made a throw up face and said YUCK mom tell me when its over!
The last just makes me happy to see that my daughter has a true love for music. As they were singing one of the main songs she was taping her foot and BIG smile on her face!
Awww!
Sidenote: those that have seen it come on tell me which was your favorite song? Mine was The Boys are back. Regan's was We're all in this Together.

Fun for one and all!
We went to a church event for Halloween. They had lots of fun events in the gym and we gave out candy to each of the trunk or treaters in the parking lot. Erin dressed up as something she is considering being when she grows up a veterinarian. Regan was a cheerleader and they all had a great time....including Regan's doll Kit! ;)
